West Brom have been boosted by the returns of Karlan Grant, Chris Mepham and Tammer Bany for Saturday's trip to mid-table Preston, with the trio training fully this week.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, head coach James Morrison is keeping attention on the pitch after headlines over the club's EFL charge for an alleged financial breach, targeting enough points from the final four fixtures to secure safety.

Attacker Grant and defender Mepham have both endured lengthy hamstring layoffs. Grant has not featured since the draw at Derby on January 23, while Mepham has been out since the home stalemate with Stoke on February 7.

Attacking midfielder Bany has barely figured this season, making only five substitute appearances since arriving at The Hawthorns 14 months ago. He underwent surgery on a torn thigh in the new year.

Morrison welcomed their involvement in training, saying the return of experienced players offers a different dimension and allows them to build fitness to be available for selection. He now has 23 players competing for places, which he views as a good problem.

Academy graduate Harry Whitwell picked up a minor training knock and is expected to miss the Preston game.

Grant's comeback is particularly timely given long-term wide attacking injuries to him, Mikey Johnston and Jed Wallace. Morrison regards Grant as a big miss, highlighting his form before injury and his leadership and voice in the dressing room.
