Albion are pushing on with further signings after making Barney Stewart their first addition of the summer. According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 22-year-old striker has joined from Falkirk for an initial £1.3 million, confirmed on Wednesday.
Talks over Chelsea forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan are at an advanced stage, and the Baggies are also close to landing Liverpool teenager Carter Pinnington. The club want early progress in the first window since Bilkul Group’s 2024 takeover, where the primary focus is not on cutting losses.
Albion have been in discussions with Karlan Grant about a new deal, while Josh Maja has been offered fresh terms. Head coach James Morrison is expected to finalise his staff, with talks under way with Celtic over Gavin Strachan.
He was spotted by Falkirk while playing as an amateur for Heriot Watt University after moving to Scotland to study sports science. He made his professional debut only last year.
He struck 19 goals in his first full professional season, including 10 in the Scottish Premiership after being recalled from a loan at Dunfermline. Albion have won the race for his signature. The fee is a club-record sale for Falkirk, with potential for significant add-ons.
Stewart said he is excited by the Championship and believes he can score for Albion as he did at Dunfermline and Falkirk.
