It has been reported that Daniel Kretinsky will become the new majority shareholder at the London Stadium after an agreement with the family of David Gold.

And the Czech businessman is looking to make his stamp on the day-to-day running of the Championship club.

This could have a big impact on their summer business, with the transfer market now open.

The London outfit are at risk of losing a number of key players, with speculation surrounding the likes of Crysencio Summerville, Mateus Fernandes and Jarrod Bowen.

But Nuno Espírito Santo will also be keen to add fresh faces to his first team squad in order to bolster their chances of earning promotion back to the top flight next season.s

It has been reported by journalist Lee Ryder that Steve Nickson will be leaving Newcastle United amid links to West Ham.

However, the recruitment chief is also the subject of interest from Wrexham and Birmingham City.

It was originally claimed that he was set for a move to the London Stadium, but the Blues’ search for a new sporting director could see them hijack the move.

Craig Gardner departed St. Andrew’s following the club’s 10th place finish in their first year back in the Championship.

Dan Ashworth has also been linked with the sporting director vacancy, as well as Kristjaan Speakman.

While it remains to be seen whether the former Man United executive will take on the role, Nickson has now emerged as an alternative option.

However, Speakman is set for a move to Danish giants Copenhagen, meaning he is no longer on the table for the Championship side.

West Ham will be hoping to appoint someone to lead their player recruitment under Kretinsky, who has taken further control of the club with his latest agreement with the Gold family.

The Hammers will be keen to build a team capable of earning promotion to the Premier League next season.

But interest in the likes of Fernandes and Summerville is currently enveloping all of the speculation surrounding the London outfit.

The Championship side have reportedly placed £80 million and £50 million price tags on the two stars, respectively, amid interest from the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

Both Wrexham and Birmingham are building exciting projects with Premier League ambitions, so they offer a legitimate threat to West Ham in the race to appoint Nickson.

He’s earned a lot of credit for his work at Newcastle, and was an important figure in the signings of Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes, who have been key for the Magpies.

Having someone with his experience of player recruitment in the Premier League could make him a strong appointment for any of these clubs.

And it would be a great endorsement of Kretinsky’s plans for West Ham if they could beat Birmingham and Wrexham to bring him in for this summer.
