West Bromwich Albion supporters have directed criticism at under-fire head coach Ryan Mason after the Baggies' draw against Sheffield Wednesday

West Bromwich Albion's disappointing form in the 2025/26 EFL Championship campaign continued as the Baggies were held to a goalless draw at home to bottom-placed Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday afternoon, promptly amplifying pressure on under-fire head coach Ryan Mason.

Albion are yet to really get going under the former Tottenham Hotspur coach, who was appointed in the summer after the failed return of Tony Mowbray last season. A strong start was enjoyed, but West Brom's form over the last couple of months has been alarming, with the Baggies having won just two of their last nine encounters.

And, following yesterday's 0-0 stalemate against Wednesday, who are rooted to the foot of the table and some 17 points from safety after being struck with points deductions from the EFL, scrutiny and pressure surrounding Mason's future in charge has only grown.

The hosts naturally dominated the Owls, though they failed to make that count and were ultimately forced to settle for a draw, with supporters evidently displeased with both the result and the nature of Mason's comments afterwards.

Mason labelled the result as "disappointing", but admitted that his side had a number of "moments" to go ahead and need to be more "disciplined".

However, the 34-year-old's comments have not gone down well with an increasingly-disgruntled fanbase, who believe that Mason's reflections are becoming all-too-predictable, and the lack of change from game-to-game is, quite clearly, a strong source of frustration among the Hawthorns faithful.

This one supporter questioned how many chances his side actually created, and explained that Mason's judgement of that shows how the ex-Tottenham and Hull City midfielder is "out of his depth".

That viewpoint is echoed throughout the fanbase, with another punter simply telling Mason that he's "miles off it".

This fan, meanwhile, referred to Mason as "clueless" and lamented the lack of "personality and creativity" in the side at the minute — a view supported by the fact that West Brom are currently averaging just 0.90 goals per game.

The feeling towards Mason is clear, as reflected by this one comment.

It's far from the only one urging Mason to go, however, which perhaps poses a serious question towards chairman Shilen Patel.

There is little doubting the sentiment among West Brom supporters towards Mason, with calls for the head coach to be relieved of his duties accelerating after yesterday's fixture against crisis club Wednesday.

Mason was, after all, appointed to help the Baggies climb back up into play-off contention after missing out on a play-off spot courtesy of last term's late-season collapse, and while the appointment did have an air of long-term strategy about it considering his philosophy and lack of prior managerial experience, the bottom line is that Albion do not currently look capable of battling for promotion and there is little in the way of performances for supporters to be hopeful about.

That's more important than the sheer fact that results are inconsistent, and the initial excitement which accompanied Mason's appointment has now dissipated. West Brom may still be just four points shy of sixth-placed Preston North End, but, now down in 12th and without any consistency to the club's form, it's hard to see them bridging that gap anytime soon.

And that may just leave Patel and co with a big decision to make in the coming weeks, especially with November's two-week international break swiftly upon us.

Before that, crunch clashes against Charlton Athletic and lowly Oxford United await - both of which feel crucial to Mason's future - and if the tide fails to turn in the next week, it would be no surprise to see the Baggies hierarchy forced to make that call amid ever-growing pressure from supporters.
