According to Superdeporte, LaLiga postponed the game only hours before kick-off after concluding the Estadio de Vallecas surface, affected by heavy rain and midweek re-turfing work, did not meet minimum safety standards.

Rayo, Oviedo and the league have all confirmed the decision centred on the condition of the turf.

Supporters are awaiting clarity on tickets and timing amid a packed run-in. Available guidance indicates tickets can be kept for the rearranged match or refunded within deadlines the home club will publish once the date and kick-off time are official.

LaLiga will need to find a slot that fits both schedules, factoring in league fixtures, cup ties and broadcast commitments. The rearranged date has not yet been announced and will be set in coordination with the two clubs.
