Sunderland began pre-season with a 5-1 win over York City, and Régis Le Bris hinted Lutsharel Geertruida will not return this season.
According to Sunderland Echo, the head coach all but confirmed that Thomas Meunier’s arrival means Geertruida will not be back at the club.

Le Bris provided the update after the first pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Meunier has now arrived at Sunderland.
On that basis, a Geertruida comeback this season appears off the table.
