Wolves have learned their 2026/27 Championship schedule after relegation, their first second-tier campaign since 2018.
According to Molineux.news, many expected Rob Edwards to lead the season, but he was sacked a couple of weeks ago after Guo Guangchang lost faith in him. The decision would have come sooner had agent Jorge Mendes not been otherwise engaged.
Cesar Peixoto is tasked with taking Wolves back up and now knows the pattern of fixtures. The opener is Blackburn Rovers at Molineux on August 14, followed by Preston away, then Stoke City at home the weekend after.
That appears a reasonable start, as all three finished in the bottom half last season. September is tougher, with West Ham United, Birmingham City, Portsmouth, Sheffield United and West Bromwich Albion to come. The first Black Country derby is at Molineux on September 19th, likely to be selected for TV so it could move.
The return at the Hawthorns is on February 20. January also looks testing, with Millwall, Burnley, Cardiff City, Bristol City and Wrexham to face.
Wolves finish away to Derby County, where the hope is they are in a promotion position or already up. There may be no glaring gauntlet at first glance, but it still shapes as a demanding season.
