Wolves have appointed Cesar Peixoto as head coach on a two-year contract at Molineux.
The club said the 46-year-old Portuguese joins from Gil Vicente, where he led a sixth-placed finish in the Portuguese First Division last season. He replaces Rob Edwards, who was sacked last week.
It is his first role outside his homeland. He has been tasked with leading an immediate return to the Premier League following relegation.
A former Porto and Benfica player, this is the ninth job of a managerial career that began in 2019.
The appointment was accompanied by emphasis on clear identity, strong leadership and hunger to succeed, with praise for Peixoto’s mentality, work ethic and readiness to embrace the challenge, and a belief that he fits the club’s culture and vision.
