Wrexham face a busy week after confirming club captain James McClean has left to join Derry City following a mutual contract termination.
Wales Online notes that two deals could be agreed over the next seven days as the Red Dragons shape their January business before the 7pm deadline on Monday, February 2. Beyond McClean, striker Jake Bickerstaff’s permanent switch to Cheltenham Town is the only move completed so far.
News of McClean’s exit followed a 2-1 home loss to relegation-threatened Norwich, ending a four-game league winning run. Wrexham sit tenth, three points off the play-offs, with Leicester visiting the Racecourse Ground on Tuesday evening.
Paul Mullin’s future is undecided. Frozen out after Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez arrived last winter, he spent the first half of this season on loan at Wigan Athletic before returning this month and playing in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Liverpool last week. Another temporary spell currently looks the most likely route.
Phil Parkinson has said they must identify the right plan for Mullin to the end of the season, noting he needed minutes and has trained well.
Midfielder Elliot Lee could also leave on loan for game time and has yet to feature in the Championship this term. Parkinson said one proposed move fell through but hopes an alternative can be arranged, and it would make sense to finalise any departures sooner, if offers arrive.
