Zeiro climb to seventh as Fagner supplies both away | OneFootball

Cruzeiro beat Internacional 2-1 on Wednesday in Porto Alegre to rise from 11th to seventh in the Brasileirão.

Kaio Jorge opened the scoring in the 11th minute, drilling into the bottom corner from Fagner's break and pass.

Inter's night turned when Victor Gabriel was shown a straight red (59.). Gabriel Pec then departed injured (62.). Moments later, Matheus Pereira swept in Fagner's cross to double the lead (64.).

After the restart tweaks, substitute Matheus Bahia gave Inter thrust down the left and his cross was turned in by Johan Carbonero to halve the deficit (83.).

Inter produced volume but not precision, registering 21 attempts with only three on target. Zeiro were sharper, hitting six shots on target from 13 attempts and edging possession at 52.8%.

The result lifts Zeiro into the Copa Sudamericana places, while Inter remain 14th. Next, Inter visit Athletico Paranaense. Zeiro host Botafogo.
