Three Arsenal players have been named in the BBC Team of the Week following Saturday’s win over West Ham United, with one also featuring in WhoScored’s team.

After a strong performance and a 2-0 win over West Ham United on Saturday, three Arsenal players were selected by Troy Deeney in his BBC Team of the Week.

Deeney picked defensive duo Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, writing: “They’ve got another clean sheet and gone to the top of the league. They just get the job done. They were excellent against West Ham.

“They’re a threat from set-pieces, back themselves one on one and have got that aura now where people are looking at them in the tunnel thinking ‘this is going to be a long day’.”

Deeney also selected goalscorer Declan Rice, praising the midfielder for a “great goal for Arsenal against his old club”.

Adding that it was an excellent performance and that “football is starting to become too easy for him”, Deeney went on to suggest that Rice could do even more that he is currently.

Rice also made WhoScored’s Team of the Week with an 8.01 rating, though neither Gabriel nor Saliba featured in it.

On top of his goal, Rice completed 92% of his passes, including creating three chances, he completed both of his attempted dribbles, and he made two clearances.

The only blemish on Rice’s strong display was the fact he went off with an injury, but it doesn’t seem to be too serious.
