One player who seems destined to leave Manchester City this summer is Jack Grealish. The England international wasn’t selected in Manchester City’s matchday squad for their final game of the season against Fulham. He was also an unused substitute during the City’s FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace. All signs indicate that Grealish will leave the Etihad this summer. Now Jack Grealish has been linked with a potential move to Tottenham Hotspur. That could be the best move for Grealish and Manchester City this summer.
Steve Kay has reported for Football Transfers that Tottenham have re-engaged in discussions with the representatives of Jack Grealish. Furthermore, Kay reports that Grealish is open to moving to Spurs this summer. Steve Kay adds that any potential negotiations between Tottenham and Grealish would be complicated due to Jack Grealish’s current wage. Grealish’s current wage is well above the top earners at Spurs as per Kay’s report. Kay further reports that Manchester City could sell Grealish for a transfer fee between £38-43 million. Lastly, Steve Kay adds that Manchester City aren’t actively seeking to sell Jack Grealish this summer.
A report from Ahad Shaukat for CaughtOffside suggests that Napoli is interested in signing Jack Grealish this summer. As per Shaukat’s report, Napoli are considered the favourites to sign Jack Grealish.
If Jack Grealish is to leave Manchester City this summer a move to a club with Champions League football would be the best move for him. That way he can keep playing at a high level. With a World Cup on the horizon, Grealish needs to be playing regularly to remain in contention for England’s 2026 World Cup squad. Playing in the Champions League would give him that opportunity to impress. A move to Tottenham does make sense on this front. Even a move to Napoli would give Grealish that opportunity.
But playing for Tottenham does look like a good opportunity for Grealish. He could remain in the Premier League. Tottenham are a team that appear to be rebuilding to climb back up the Premier League table. That may be the best environment for Grealish to resurrect his career so to speak.
From a Manchester City point of view, if they could, get a transfer fee of between £38-43 million for a player who seemingly has no future at the club would be a major win. In fact, that would be ideal for City. Whether or not that happens remains to be seen. But if they could sell Grealish and get his wage off their books and recoup a transfer fee for him that would represent a win, especially considering Grealish’s performances and lack of availability throughout the 24/25 season.
It would seem that Tottenham have reignited their interest in Jack Grealish. A move to Spurs could be the best thing for him. It could also be the ideal scenario for Manchester City if they can sell him to Tottenham, or Napoli for that matter this summer.
