Former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy has reacted to Chelsea’s 3-1 defeat against Brighton over the weekend.
The Blues lost 3-1 to Brighton at home on Saturday afternoon after defender Trevoh Chalobah got a red card early in the second half. Manager Enzo Maresca made some very odd substitutions that were very negative and saw criticism from Chelsea fans.
The negativity continued amongst the media and Chelsea fan base after the game with the Blues clearly in a little slump already in the season after their last four games. Although they beat Lincoln City last week, the performance was very bad.
As a result of this, Chelsea have sent out a vote of confidence media briefing to the big publications which has been reported by all of them, pretty much exactly the same word for word, clearly showing it’s a PR media report coming straight from the club.
It’s very early in the season so Chelsea can easily get back on track, but you cannot hide from the clear slump that they are currently in and the need to bounce back very soon.

Cundy was covering the game and in his in-game commentary, he said:
“This is a bad result. The whole second half has been an absolute disaster. This has been a terrible second half. I did not see this coming at half time.”

We know Trevoh Chalobah got sent off and obviously Chelsea were then very restricted by being a man short, but they were still awful in the second half which was not helped by negative subs made by Enzo Maresca.
