Francesco Pio Esposito came under the spotlight last season.

Indeed, the 20-year-old enjoyed a stellar season-long loan at Spezia, netting 18 goals in Serie B.

Despite his superb scoring exploits, the Aquilotti failed to secure Serie A promotion.

As a result, the teenage center-forward returned to Inter Milan in the summer at Cristian Chivu’s request.

Though several top teams, including Napoli, tried to lure him away from Milan, Chivu convinced the club not to sell their teen sensation.

Therefore, Inter turned down numerous offers for Esposito.

Furthermore, Cristian Chivu has kept his pre-season promise, handing the youngster plenty of playing time at the start of the season.

Meanwhile, Esposito has repaid the 44-year-old’s trust. The Italian starlet has been remarkable despite only scoring once.

“I don’t like to talk about Pio publicly,” Giuffredi said. “I’m not a fan of the media hype that’s building around such a young player.

“Pio has worked his way up, proving he deserves Serie A. I don’t like how people speak about him with too much importance and fuss.

“He needs to live his life calmly, without massive expectations. He’s a very balanced young man who knows there will be difficult moments even for him.

“I would be cautious and measured in saying he’ll be the national team’s striker for the next ten years.

“He’ll have to prove himself like every other player. If he does, it will mean he’s earned it. We try to instill in him the concept of staying grounded.”

In the meantime, Giuffredi detailed how Sebastiano Esposito left Inter for Cagliari in the summer.

“The negotiations began in June, then Parma got involved, and there was a head-to-head battle until the very last second to choose the final destination.

“Our job is also to respect the players’ wishes. In that case, Seba strongly wanted to go to Cagliari, and we obliged him.

“I only accommodate a player if I agree with the choice. If I don’t agree, the player goes where I say, not where he wants.

“It’s like when a coach sets a lineup imposed by the club president.

“It’s the same for me. If the choice is shared, I avoid an argument; if not, I argue for his own good.”
