Benfica’s pursuit of Lorenzo Lucca has become more complicated, with fresh competition emerging alongside existing financial hurdles and the player’s own preferences.
A Bola reports that Al Hilal have entered the race to lure the Italian striker to Saudi Arabia. The side coached by Simone Inzaghi, who could offload Marcos Leonardo, has shown strong interest in a player tracked by Benfica.
The Saudi club is considering a loan move and is ready to offer a contract far beyond what Benfica can put forward, which could give them an advantage.
Benfica, while aware of Napoli’s terms, still face the challenge of convincing Lucca to head to Luz. His priority is to remain in Serie A, and the prospect of being behind Vangelis Pavlidis does not help their case.
This season for Napoli, Lorenzo Lucca, valued at €25 million, has played 21 competitive matches, 15 in Serie A, four in the Champions League, one in the Super Cup and one in the Coppa Italia. Across 584 minutes, he has scored two goals. He is under contract until June 2028.
