Palmeiras beat São Paulo 1-0 at Morumbis in the Campeonato Brasileiro on Saturday, and coach Abel Ferreira was sent off by referee Anderson Daronco in the second half during the Choque-Rei derby.

According to Nosso Palestra, Daronco recorded in his match report that the Palmeiras coach insulted him as "cagão".

The dismissal followed a second yellow card shown to him.

He has now collected his third red card of the season in Palmeiras' 19 matches in 2026.

Besides this expulsion, he had been cautioned against Corinthians in the Paulistão and against Fluminense, also in the Campeonato Brasileiro.
