Angers face Marseille in Ligue 1 on Saturday, 17 January 2026 at Stade Raymond Kopa, with the visitors defending third place and the hosts eyeing a move towards the top half.
Angers and Marseille drew 2-2 in October and sit 10th and third respectively. The recent series has often been tight, and the hosts will want home form to tell against high-ranked opponents.
Angers' league momentum cooled after a strong December that brought wins at Nice and a 4-1 home victory over Nantes, followed by defeat at Le Havre. Les Olympiens mixed a 1-0 league win over Monaco with a 9-0 Coupe de France rout at Bayeux, a draw with Paris Saint-Germain before losing on penalties in the Trophée des Champions, and a league loss to Nantes.
Angers list Jim Allevinah and Harouna Djibirin as injured.
Les Phocéens carry plenty of threat. They have scored 36 league goals with 60% average possession and 89.44% passing accuracy, and Mason Greenwood leads the Ligue 1 scoring chart with 11. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has added five goals and five assists. Angers have five clean sheets and concede 1.2 per game, while Sidiki Cherif has four league goals. The hosts may look to keep the game compact and strike when chances come.
A win would take Les Phocéens to 35 points and could tighten their grip on the Champions League places. Angers, currently on 22 points, could move into the top half with a positive result.
