Manchester City’s Antoine Semenyo has insisted the focus must remain solely on the team’s own performances, and away from events ongoing with Arsenal.

The Ghana international was once again at the centre of attention as City edged past Leeds United in a tense encounter at Elland Road, reducing the gap to leaders Arsenal to just two points and keeping the pressure firmly on heading into another crucial week.

Pep Guardiola’s side were made to work for their victory in West Yorkshire however, particularly in the opening stages as Leeds pressed aggressively and created early opportunities.

However, it was Antoine Semenyo who delivered the decisive moment before the interval, ensuring City travelled back to Manchester with maximum points despite the absence of injured striker Erling Haaland.

Speaking to television broadcasters after Manchester City’s 0-1 win over Leeds, Antoine Semenyo insisted on the importance of another three points, and placing the focus solely on themselves.

“It means everything! We just want to win all our games, and whatever Arsenal do we’ll just have to wait and see. We just need to control what we can control, win our games, and we’ll see what happens,” Semenyo insisted.

The clash at Elland Road saw Semenyo continue his hot streak in front of goal, followed up by a unique celebration, pretending to play the guitar in front of the home supporters.

“Just a few friends said I should do something funny, and that was the first thing that came up in my head. A nice guitar, good performance, the crowd loved it!”

The goal showcased Semenyo’s sharp instincts in the penalty area, stretching to turn home a driven low cross and cap off a challenging first half for the visitors. Leeds had threatened early on, but City gradually found their rhythm and took advantage of a key opening.

With clashes against Nottingham Forest, Newcastle, and Real Madrid on the horizon, Antoine Semenyo’s form offers Pep Guardiola an added boost during a pivotal stretch of fixtures.

The forward’s growing influence in the final third has helped offset injury concerns elsewhere, providing Manchester City with crucial goals at a decisive stage of the campaign.

For Antoine Semenyo, however, the message remains that focus must face inward, aiming to maintain momentum, and letting the Premier League table take care of itself.
