Arrascaeta back in Rio as Flamengo return after 1-1 Estudiantes de La Plata draw

Flamengo returned to Rio on Thursday morning, a day after a 1-1 draw with Estudiantes de La Plata in the Libertadores. Arrascaeta travelled with the group despite fracturing his right clavicle.

The club said in a statement that the delegation arrived at around 06:25 Brasília time.

The squad were given Thursday off. Arrascaeta will undergo surgery to repair the fracture to his right clavicle, with head of the medical department Fernando Sassaki to accompany the procedure.

Without Arrascaeta, preparations for the Vasco match begin on Friday 1 at Ninho do Urubu. Coach Leonardo Jardim will refocus work on Sunday’s derby.

Attention now turns to the Brasileirão. Flamengo face Vasco at the Maracanã on Sunday 3, with kick-off at 16:00 Brasília time, in the 14th round.
