Arsenal star wins MOTD Goal of the Month

Gabriel Martinelli’s late equaliser against Manchester City has been named Match of the Day’s Goal of the Month for September, after his stunning stoppage-time strike rescued a point for Arsenal at the Emirates.

The Brazilian came off the bench to rescue a point for Mikel Arteta’s side in a tense 1-1 draw at the Emirates, striking in the 93rd minute with a remarkably calm, instinctive finish.

Receiving a perfectly weighted pass from Eberechi Eze, Martinelli darted in behind the City defence before lifting a delicate outside-of-the-boot effort over Gianluigi Donnarumma and under the bar.

The goal was Martinelli’s second important goal from the bench in as many games, having broken the deadlock for the Gunners against Athletic Club in the Champions League before setting up their second in that game.
