Arsenal return to Emirates Stadium for Saturday’s early Premier League fixture against Nottingham Forest, seeking a response after their narrow defeat away to Liverpool before the international break.
Both teams are looking to rebound from setbacks, with Forest having parted ways with Nuno Espírito Santo and newly appointed manager Ange Postecoglou taking charge for the first time.
The Gunners, who have not lost at home to Forest in the league since 1989, will back their strong home form against a Forest side struggling to find defensive stability early in the campaign.
Mikel Arteta faces a continued injury crisis with key absentees. Bukayo Saka (hamstring), Kai Havertz (knee), William Saliba (ankle), and Gabriel Jesus (ACL) are all sidelined. Ben White and Christian Nørgaard are minor doubts but could return to the squad, while captain Martin Ødegaard’s availability is a timely boost for the Gunners.
While the appointment of Ange Postecoglou ends the disruptive saga involving former manager Nuno, he faces immediate on-field challenges. Forest have been dealt an injury blow, with Ola Aina expected to miss out. They arrive at the Emirates with a history of defensive struggles and a poor recent record in this fixture.
The Gunners lost their perfect start with a 1-0 defeat to Liverpool. However, they have been formidable at home, winning their last two matches and boasting three clean sheets in their last five league outings. Arsenal’s attacking and defensive record suggests they are the favourites for this encounter.
Forest have had a turbulent start, sitting mid-table with a win, a draw, and a defeat. They lost 3-0 at home to West Ham last time out and have yet to keep a clean sheet in three matches, conceding seven goals this season.
Arsenal predicted XI: Raya; Timber, Mosquera, Gabriel, Calafiori; Odegaard, Zubimendi, Rice; Madueke, Gyokeres, Eze
Nottingham Forest predicted XI: Sels; Savona, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Anderson, Yates; McAtee, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Wood
The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event, with coverage starting at 12pm BST.
