In a recent report, Sozcu claimed that Arsenal winger Leandro Trossard is generating interest from Turkey this month. It is understood that Besiktas are eager to sign the Belgian wide player from the North London club this summer.

Trossard’s Impressive Form In North London Last Season

Trossard had a decent campaign at the Premier League club recently as he put in a run of productive displays for them in the final third. The Belgian talent banged in ten goals and grabbed ten assists in 56 matches for the Gunners last season in all competitions.

The 30-year-old caught the eye at times on the left flank after he averaged 2.55 shots per 90 minutes in the Premier League. He kept 29.2% of his attempts on target. Trossard distributed the ball relatively well based on his pass completion rate of 74.5% in the top tier of English football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at the North London club will expire at the end of this campaign. Thus, it makes sense for Mikel Arteta to try and cash in on him this summer or else risk losing him on a free transfer next year.

Should Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Cash In On Trossard This Month?

Trossard is a good dribbler with the ball at his feet and has got the eye to set up a few promising chances for his teammates to find the back of the net. He can shoot the ball with power from long range and can contribute by scoring and creating a handful of important goals for his team up top.

However, Trossard is currently not a regular starter at Arsenal as he has fallen behind Gabriel Martinelli and Eberechi Eze in Mikel Arteta’s pecking order.

At 30, Trossard needs to ensure regular first-team starts if he wants to make the most out of the remainder of his playing career. Therefore, it is only fair to the player for Arsenal to cut him loose this month.

Furthermore, Trossard is on an expiring contract. Hence, Arteta should focus on cashing in on him soon and use the money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of his match-day squad in the January transfer window.
