Inter Milan manager Cristian Chivu is gunning for all three points in tonight’s Champions League game against Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to Amazon Prime via FCInterNews, the 45-year-old outlined Inter’s high European ambitions this season.

Despite already losing four Serie A matches, Cristian Chivu has enjoyed a stellar managerial start in the Champions League.

Indeed, Inter have won all four European outings so far, netting 11 goals while conceding just one in return.

Therefore, the San Siro giants are one step away from securing a top-eight finish in the newly formatted league phase.

However, there’s no room for complacency, with the Nerazzurri set to face four top clubs down the final stretch.

Moreover, Inter’s morale took a hit on Sunday, as they lost the Milan derby despite faring far better than the Rossoneri.

It’s not the only ominous sign ahead of the kick-off, given that Inter are winless in their last 12 away matches against Spanish opposition.

“In the Champions League, every match is complicated because the level is high,” Chivu said. “It’s a competition of a certain standard.

“We know the importance of the match and how difficult it will be today. But we are ready.”

Chivu also delivered his verdict on his lineup tonight.

“I don’t know what doubts there may have been,” he added. “I’ve never had any.

“I was sure of what I could put on the pitch. On the right, Carlos will play, and up front, Lautaro with Bonny.

“Zielinski? He’s available, as are Barella and Calhanoglu.”

Moreover, he urged Inter to be at their best at the Metropolitano Stadium.

“Champions League matches are always tough. To pick up points, you need a great performance.

“We’ve collected 12 so far. That’s not enough to finish among the top eight.

“We must do more, which is why I say this is an important match.

“We know the difficulties of playing on this pitch, but we’ll play it as a team.”

Finally, he admitted he has no protege in the dressing room.

“I have two daughters; they also play football… I have many sons.

“However, I care about the whole group, just like it was at Parma and in the youth sector.”
