The brass at Atlético Madrid have set their sights firmly on the signing of a member of the attacking ranks at La Liga rivals Barcelona.

That’s according to Fichajes, who point towards Robert Lewandowski as the player in question.

Frontman Lewandowski is of course widely expected to bring a close to his time on the books of Barcelona in the summer of 2026.

As much comes with the Pole’s contract terms due to expire upon the season coming to a close.

A whole host of clubs from across world football, in turn, have been credited with an interest in Lewandowski’s signature.

And as alluded to above, this week, a new name has been added to the fray.

As per a report from Fichajes, Atlético Madrid are keen to repeat the formula of signing an aging goalscorer from Barcelona as a free agent.

After previously seeing success with such a move through Luis Suárez’s addition, the Rojiblancos are now readying a similar swoop for Lewandowski with a view to next season.
