According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica retain strong interest in Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca for the winter window, yet mounting competition is proving a major obstacle.
The hierarchy aim to deliver the Italian forward for José Mourinho, satisfying the coach's wish, but the deal would demand significant financial effort and complex negotiations to outmanoeuvre rivals.
The Italy international is attracting clubs from England and Germany, with approaches from financially powerful leagues. That race is likely to make Rui Costa's task harder.
Should Benfica miss out, other options are noted. Clayton of Rio Ave is under consideration, though the requested fee complicates any immediate move, so Lucca remains the priority.
This season for Napoli, Lucca is valued at 25 million euros and has played 20 matches, 14 in Serie A, four in the Champions League, one in the Coppa Italia and one in the Super Cup. Across 570 minutes, he has scored two goals.
