Bristol City are set to sign Delano Burgzorg on loan, after previously being told the winger would not leave Middlesbrough.
Delano Burgzorg's future at Middlesbrough has been the subject of speculation throughout this month and a fresh twist has now emerged ahead of next week's February 2 deadline.
The winger, who has scored twice and registered three assists in 25 Championship games this season, has been the subject of significant interest from the Robins throughout the January transfer window.
He scored the winning goal for Boro in a 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion earlier this month, but he has not started for Kim Hellberg's side since January 4, with the vast majority of his game time this campaign coming from substitute appearances.
Burgzorg featured more prominently during his first term on Teesside, and the recent arrival of Brighton winger Jeremy Sarmiento has appeared to orchestrate a new U-turn on the ex-Huddersfield Town forward's immediate future.
Middlesbrough are set to allow Delano Burgzorg to leave the club ahead of deadline day, despite previously rejecting an approach from Bristol City.
It's said that Burgzorg is now closing in on his departure from Middlesbrough, with fellow Championship side Bristol City set to sign the 27-year-old.
The Robins are currently seventh in the Championship table, just a point off the play-off places, and Gerhard Struber will be keen to get another attacking player in before the deadline to ensure that his team have an even greater threat going forward.

It was reported late on Tuesday evening by The Northern Echo that Bristol City are set to sign Burgzorg on loan for the rest of the campaign, and that will be music to the ears of those at Ashton Gate.
The winger has plenty of Championship experience, having played 100 games in the division so far in his career - scoring 14 times and picking up seven assists. While these are not the most exciting statistics, the Dutchman has struggled to find his place in the starting XI at times.
A fresh start with Bristol City could be the perfect way for Burgzorg to find form, and if he can help push the Robins into the top six, he may have the opportunity of gaining promotion and potentially securing a permanent move away from Middlesbrough.
Earlier this month, Boro denied the winger a chance of moving on from the Riverside Stadium, but with Jeremy Sarmiento the latest addition to Hellberg's side, there is ample cover out wide now.
The Ecuadorian international has won promotion in his last two Championship campaigns, helping Ipswich Town and Burnley to second place finishes in 2023/24 and 2024/25 respectively.

Sarmiento has the opportunity to do the same with Middlesbrough, and with that experience under his belt already, it will not come as a surprise to anyone to see Boro make a move for the winger.
At 23, he is only going to improve, and with his ceiling arguably greater than Burgzorg's this season, this may be the right decision for all parties.
