Bradford fans bought up their near five thousand ticket allocation in double quick time when they went on sale.
Season ticket holders buying up all the tickets before any other Bantams supporters could get a chance.
Bradford fans very much looking forward to taking on Newcastle United in front of a sold out 52,000+ at St James’ Park on Wednesday night.
Those supporters now buoyant going into the cup match.
After winning 3-1 at home to Huddersfield in their previous game, Bradford travelled to top of the table Cardiff City yesterday.
More than 2,000 Bradford fans travelled to watch their side play an unbeaten Cardiff side who had only conceded two goals in their opening seven league matches.
Within 49 minutes the visitors were 3-0 up and whilst Cardiff got a late consolation goal, it couldn’t prevent Bradford City replacing them at the top of the table in League One.
Amongst the comments from Bradford fans on BBC Sport after this 3-1 away win at Cardiff:
‘Great statement from Bradford. I’m not sure even the most one-eyed, madly optimistic City fan could have believed we’d be top at this stage of the season, or any stage tbf. Huge praise for Alexander, the coaching team, the recruitment team and in fact everyone involved at the club. Long way to go, but over the moon with this start. Loving the ride!’
‘This side continue to amaze me. Unreal effort again from the mighty chickens. Fair play Mr Alexander #CTID’
‘Magnificent performance by Bradford – free flowing in attack and looking solid in defence. Long may it continue!’
‘Just can’t fault Bradford City, exciting team to watch with a Brilliant Manager.’
‘Up the chickens! this is brilliant.’
Lifelong Newcastle United fan Andy Cook watched on from the Bradford bench yesterday at Cardiff, but could still yet live his St James’ Park dream.
When Newcastle v Bradford was pulled out of the hat for the Carabao Cup third round, he says he; ‘screamed the house down’!
The lifelong Newcastle United fan is from Bishop Auckland and the now 34 year old striker has had a long career at the likes of Carlisle, Tranmere, Walsall, Grimsby and Mansfield.
However, it is at Bradford City where Andy Cook has had arguably his greatest success. Since joining the Bantams in 2021 he has scored 69 goals at a rate of almost one every two matches.
Still on his way back to full fitness after a serious knee injury, the veteran striker is hoping he will finally make it onto the St James’ Park pitch.
Andy Cook will turn 35 next month so it is very likely that this could be his very last chance of doing so.
Here’s hoping for a comfortable Newcastle United win in three days time AND Andy Cook getting at least some minutes on the SJP pitch.
“It’s my dream to play there in a competitive game, so hopefully I can be involved
“I screamed the house down…I am not even joking.
“I told the physios straight away.
“I sent them a message and said: ‘don’t care what you say, I’m ready’.
“I don’t think it works like that, but I obviously told them.
“I’ve never been on the pitch at St James’ Park so to do that would be unreal.
“It’s what dreams are made of.”
