Walsall announced their end-of-season retained and released list, with Brandon Comley among 12 players to depart.
Comley was the longest-serving member of the squad, scoring twice in 151 appearances. He joined in 2022 from Dagenham & Redbridge under Michael Flynn.
Club captain Jamille Matt also leaves after three and a half years at Bescot, with veteran defender Aden Flint departing too. Others released are Charlie Lakin, Jamie Jellis, Dylan Thomas, Charlie Wragg, Priestley Farquharson, Alfie Chang, Evan Weir and Josh Gordon. Farquharson’s exit comes despite an option year having been inserted into his one-year extension last summer.
Talks are ongoing with Albert Adomah and Rico Browne over new contracts. Adomah, 38, was the Saddlers’ second top scorer with eight in all competitions and in late March reached 100 appearances for the club, becoming the first player in EFL history to play 100 games for six different clubs.
Option years have been triggered for goalkeeper Jenson Kilroy and defender Elicha Ahui.
Jake Hollman’s two-year deal has been ended by mutual consent after one season. He made eight appearances following a free transfer from Australian side Macarthur FC last summer, and has not played since a season-ending hamstring injury in a 4-2 defeat at Northampton Town in January.
Will Etheridge, who made his senior debut from the bench at Bromley on the final day, has also had his second-year scholarship extended.
