Claims that Brian Brobbey is set to leave Sunderland in a record deal have been dismissed. The club are not under pressure to sell.
According to FootballTransfers, the striker would depart this summer for around €40million, approximately £34million, after Bayern Munich were credited with strong interest. As things stand, there is no agreement in place and no official bid from Bayern.
Brobbey joined from Ajax last summer for around €20million, approximately £17million, on a five-year contract, leaving Sunderland in a strong position should interest materialise. He has scored six Premier League goals and provided one assist in his first season.
He netted a dramatic late winner at St James' Park against Newcastle United, then impressed against Tottenham Hotspur after the international break.
A significant offer could change the picture as the transfer window approaches, but for now there is no suggestion a deal is close. Brobbey remains a Sunderland player and talk that he is set to leave is wide of the mark.
