With FC Barcelona in the market for a new striker in the summer, one of the players on the club’s radar happens to be Hoffenheim ace Fisnik Asllani.
The 23-year-old Kosovan forward had previously gone on the record, naming Barça as his dream club.
More recently, his agent and advisor, Ayman Dahmani, also confirmed that there had been contact with the Catalans about a potential move in the near future.
However, speaking to the media over the weekend following Hoffenheim’s loss to Mainz, Asllani brushed off the speculations in the media, insisting that he can only control what happens on the pitch.
“I can only influence what happens on the pitch. I need to continue performing well, try to help the team, whether that’s with goals, assists, or whatever. And regardless of that, I simply need to give my all for the team,” he said, as quoted by SportBILD.

“And what’s going on around me, I have to be honest, doesn’t interest me. Everyone just talks and talks. Like I said, I can only influence what happens on the pitch,” Asllani further added.
The 23-year-old forward also made it clear that he was not one to be influenced by what was being said about his future.
“It was the same last season when I was still in Elversberg, everyone was talking: ‘Oh, what’s next? Contract next season, this, that.’ I simply said: ‘Leave me alone, let me play football, let me have fun.’ And that’s exactly what I’m doing this year.”
However, interestingly, Asllani did not definitively close the door on a summer departure, as he said:
“And then we’ll see what happens in the end.”
Barcelona, for their part, are keeping themselves fully informed about Asllani’s situation at Hoffenheim. Whether a move materialises depends on a lot of factors, considering that the Catalans’ priority target happens to be Julian Alvarez.
