Michael Carrick says he is “really excited” by what more is to come from Benjamin Sesko after the striker scored another winner for Manchester United.

Sesko was rewarded with a start following a run off games scoring off the bench, and justified Carrick’s decision by scoring United’s second in their 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

“He’s had a huge impact and he’s making big improvements,” Carrick said.

“A little bit is getting used to being here, the feeling and what it means to play and things we can take for granted sometimes.

“He’s desperate to do well, he works so hard. He thinks about it an awful lot but he’s an absolute pleasure to work with.

“Today he started and it was a fantastic goal so he’s bringing an awful lot.

“He’s put the work in, he’s stayed positive, he knows where he wants to improve and he’s pretty clear on that. He’s a good player and that’s why he’s here.

“He’s got great strengths, it’s clear to see, scoring different types of goals. He’s such a real threat so really excited about where he can get to without getting too carried away.

“He’s got huge potential, he’s so young and it’s still early days for him but he’s doing fantastic.”
