Luis Díaz is already a key figure at FC Bayern after just a few months. The Colombian was also the key man against FC St. Pauli – and received praise from the highest levels

Vincent Kompany was particularly impressed with his winger’s performanceafter the 3-1 home win over St. Pauli. In the post-match press conference, the coach highlighted Luis Díaz’s exceptional skills: „Lucho has a kind of ‚chaotic creativity‘. He can always create something in chaos. As a defender, I always found it uncomfortable to play against players like that because you never know whether you’re controlling the ball or he is. He lifted his head even though he was on the ground and played a great pass. He did exactly the same move yesterday in training. That’s one of his qualities.“

The 28-year-old was instrumental in Bayern winning the game late on against a passionate defensive display from the visitors. In stoppage time, it was Díaz who headed home the winner before Nicolas Jackson scored the final goal. The left-back had already set up the 1:1 in the first half with a pass to Guerreiro when he was lying down. Díaz was directly involved in two of the three goals

Indispensable in difficult moments

Sporting director Christoph Freund was also delighted after the game on Sky: „He’s a top transfer for us. His quality is really good for us. When things get difficult, he goes one better. He’s an extremely important player for us.“

With 12 goals and 6 assists in all competitions, Díaz impressively underlines his role as a difference-maker. Especially in phases when Bayern’s game falters, the Colombian brings new impetus with his unpredictability.
