Chelsea hope Reece James will be fit to face Leeds after illness.

James has recovered from the knock that forced him to miss games against Arsenal and Wolves.

But, speaking in his pre-match press conference on Monday, Liam Rosenior revealed James has been struggling with illness.

That comes after a virus swept through the Chelsea camp a couple of weeks ago, early in Rosenior’s reign.

With the FA Cup visit to Hull to come on Friday, Rosenior is expected to name another strong XI against Leeds before resting some of his key stars for that fourth-round tie.

Andrey Santos is fit after being substituted late on against Wolves at the weekend.

Cole Palmer will hope to build on his hat-trick at Molineux.

Palmer played 60 minutes at the weekend as he builds back up to full fitness.

Asked if Palmer can play 90 minutes, Rosenior said on Monday: “He's available for tomorrow.”

Rosenior is able to call on the recalled Mamadou Sarr, who was on the bench at Wolves.

Jamie Gittens is still not be available after suffering a tear in his hamstring in the first half of the 3-2 win over West Ham.

Chelsea will also remain without injured Dario Essugo, Romeo Lavia and Levi Colwill for the Leeds match, but Lavia has trained over the last two days.

Tosin Adarabioyo is also back in training and progressing well.

Chelsea predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Sanchez; James, Fofana, Chalobah, Cucurella; Santos, Caicedo; Palmer, Fernandez, Neto; Joao Pedro

Injured: Gittens, Essugo, Lavia, Colwill

Doubts: James, Tosin
