Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was unhappy with the Referee and the officiating in the 3-1 defeat to Chelsea yesterday.
The Blues got quite a comfortable win in the end after a good second half performance. But the first 25 minutes of the game could have gone either way really, with Palace threatening as well.
Joao Pedro got the important second goal to put some distance between the two sides, and Estevao Willian opened the scoring in this game with a superb run and finish after he pounced on a Palace mistake.
Enzo Fernandez then got a late penalty to put even more distance between the two sides. Adam Wharton got sent off for Palace but they then managed to get one goal back and actually started playing better again too.
Palace fans were annoyed that Caicedo, who did get booked, didn’t get sent off and also, a stamp by Pedro Neto was not even looked at by VAR and was also a sending off offence. There are also reasons to be annoyed by the awarding of the Chelsea penalty. Glasner was certainly annoyed by all three of those things.

“I could easily blame the referee for a few decisions,” said Glasner. “Caicedo had two fouls in the first half and conceded one yellow. Adam had two and conceded two yellows.
“I watched the penalty back and it hit Jaydee’s hip first. We were briefed before the season that if the ball touches the body first and then hits the hand, it’s not handball.
“Pedro Neto stamped on Ismaila Sarr. VAR has to intervene, it’s a clear stamp – it should have been a red card.
“But, to be honest, it feels wrong to blame the referee because he can’t help us in the future. We can only help ourselves. That’s why I think it’s important to talk about ourselves.”
