Real Madrid have once again turned to Sevilla’s academy in search of emerging talent, this time securing the signing of highly-rated young goalkeeper Ricardo Borrero.
The 15-year-old, who hails from the town of Beas in Huelva, has completed a move to Valdebebas after impressing throughout his development at Sevilla’s youth academy.
The agreement is initially for one season, with options to extend for a further two years depending on his progress.
Borrero’s departure is the latest example of Sevilla losing one of their most promising academy players to a direct rival.
His exit comes after the recent departure of attacking prospect Alexis Ciria, who also joined Real Madrid during the winter transfer window and has made a strong start to life in the club’s academy system.
Now, another highly regarded youngster has followed the same path, with Borrero now moving to La Fabrica.
Borrero enjoyed an excellent season in Sevilla’s youth ranks, featuring in 28 matches across different age groups.
Despite being eligible for Cadete B football, he regularly played above his age category and also appeared for Sevilla’s Cadete A side in the Andalusian Division de Honor.
Across those appearances, he conceded only 17 goals, underlining both his consistency and his ability to perform under pressure.
Following the announcement of his transfer, Borrero expressed his excitement on social media.
“I am very happy and proud to sign for the greatest club in history and for being given this incredible opportunity.
“I want to thank Real Madrid for placing their trust in me. This is a dream come true and I can’t wait to get started at this great club. Hala Madrid!“
The signing of Borrero is another indication of Real Madrid’s commitment to identifying and recruiting elite young talent from across Spain.
With Valdebebas continuing to attract some of the country’s most promising prospects, the club remain focused on strengthening its academy pipeline and ensuring that the next generation of talent is already being developed for the future.
