Corinthians ball boy assaults Palmeiras player, rival duo at risk

On the evening of last Sunday (8), Corinthians faced Palmeiras at the Neo Química Arena, in the seventh round of the first phase of the 2026 Paulista Championship, and ended up being defeated 1-0. The result left the Alvinegro in fifth place on the overall state table with 11 points – nine goals scored and six conceded.

In the match report, referee Raphael Claus recorded the aggression by the Corinthians ball boy, Alessandro Silva, who kicked Palmeiras forward Ramón Sosa in the leg. The incident occurred right after the goal by the rival's Argentine forward, Flaco López, towards the end of the second half, when he kicked the corner flag with the symbol of the Parque São Jorge club.

“I inform that at the 85th minute of the game I expelled Mr. Alessandro da Silva, identified as the ball boy of the match, for kicking the leg of player number 19 of Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, Mr. Ramón Sosa Acosta, during the confusion in the celebration of the visiting team's goal”, said the referee in the match document.

Palmeiras duo may be punished

According to information initially released by UOL Esporte, the Sports Justice Tribunal (TJD) may charge midfielder Andreas Pereira and forward Luighi, both from Palmeiras, for controversial actions in the Derby against Corinthians last Sunday (8). It is worth noting that these episodes were not recorded by Claus in the match report.

Andreas, before the penalty miss by forward Memphis Depay in the first half, damaged the penalty mark in the Palmeiras area to hinder the Corinthians kicker. Luighi, in turn, kicked a ball that was positioned next to Hugo Souza's goal into the face of a fan in the South sector after the Palmeiras goal.
