Corinthians beat Pró-Esporte, lead Paulista women's quarters

On the evening of Friday, October 31, Corinthians visited Pró-Esporte Sorocaba at the Dr. Gualberto Moreira Municipal Sports Gymnasium for the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Paulista Women's Championship and won by a score of 69 to 45. If they win the second game – in a best-of-three series – the Alvinegro will secure a spot in the state semifinals.

Corinthians showed some superiority in the first half, even after starting at a disadvantage on the scoreboard, with Tássia and Thayná standing out, each scoring 10 points in the first 20 minutes of play. In the second half, with Thayná and Yasmin, Corinthians imposed their game, opened up a 30-point lead, and managed the result until the end.

Coach Bruno Guidorizzi started the match with: Yasmin Gonçalves, Licinara, Alana, Thayná Silva, and Tássia. The bench options were: Jamile, Glenda, Bia Oliveira, Nazinha, Jaqueline, and Júlia Mansilha. The top scorer of the match was Thayná – 17 points and 10 rebounds. Licinara was right behind with 16 points, and Alana led in assists – with five.

Corinthians finished every period ahead: 22 to 15 / 40 to 28 (18 x 25) / 60 to 33 (20 x 5) / 69 to 45 (9 x 12). Now, both teams will face each other again on November 5, Wednesday, at 7pm (Brasília time), at the Wlamir Marques Gymnasium, Parque São Jorge, aiming to secure a spot in the next stage.
