Corinthians have ended their pursuit of Novorizontino centre-back Dantas after rejecting the proposed deal structure, according to Meu Timao. Talks stalled over a request for around two million dollars, about R$ 10.3 million, and the approach has been closed.
That demand clashes with the club's current strategy, which prioritises free agents and loans that avoid significant fees.
So far Corinthians have added Gabriel Paulista, Pedro Milans, Zakaria Labyad and Jesse Lingard without transfer costs after contract terminations, with Lingard still awaiting official confirmation. Matheus Pereira, Allan and Kaio César arrived on loan, with only Pereira involving about R$ 1.8 million plus midfielder Ryan on loan.
Corinthians also made an enquiry for three Portuguesa players, but talks did not progress for the same reason. Dantas, 21, has also attracted interest from Botafogo and Fluminense and is a pillar of a Paulistão 2026 finalist, with nine outings this year across the Copa do Brasil and the state championship.
In central defence, Corinthians have André Ramalho, Gabriel Paulista, João Pedro Tchoca, Gustavo Henrique and Iago Machado, while left-back Fabrizio Angileri can cover. The transfer window closes on Tuesday, three March, but Série A and B clubs can still sign players who featured in state competitions from four to 27 March.
