Corinthians midfielder plays full match after nearly seven months

After almost seven months, André Carrillo returned to play a full match for Corinthians. The Peruvian midfielder stayed on the field for the entire 90 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Cruzeiro this Wednesday, in the Brazilian Championship Série A.

The last time the player played from start to finish was on July 26, also in a 1-1 draw against Botafogo at the Nilton Santos Stadium, during the 17th round of the 2025 Brasileirão. Since then, Carrillo has made 23 appearances, nine of them already in the 2026 season.

The longest time on the field before this match was recorded in the year's debut against Red Bull Bragantino. On that occasion, he played for 73 minutes in the 3-0 victory over Ponte Preta at the Neo Química Arena.

In addition to being the most experienced player on the team at 34 years old, Carrillo had to undergo surgery last August after suffering a ligament injury in his left ankle. The issue kept him away from the team led by Dorival Júnior for almost three months, with a return only at the end of October.

In 2026, the Peruvian has played nine matches, starting as a starter in seven of them. On three other occasions, against Velo Clube, São Bernardo, and Portuguesa, he did not leave the bench. In total, he has accumulated 537 minutes this season, according to Ogol data.

With the draw at Mineirão, Corinthians reached seven points and occupies third place in the Brasileirão. The next match will be on Saturday at 8:30 PM against Novorizontino, at the Estádio Doutor Jorge Ismael de Biasi, in the single-match semifinal of the Campeonato Paulista.
