According to Meu Timao, Corinthians issued an extrajudicial notice on Saturday to Futebol Forte União (FFU) and investor Sports Media after a Cade ruling on Thursday. It raised concerns over the league's legal and competitive set-up.
Signed by president Osmar Stabile, the notice cites a Superintendence order telling Sports Media not to obstruct club exits from the FFU, backed by a R$ 250,000 daily fine for non-compliance.
The club said the preliminary decision heightens worries about whether the FFU model and linked arrangements comply with competition law, notably Law 12.529/2011, which bans artificial barriers that restrict free competition.
Corinthians stated it cannot negotiate rights jointly with any association that does not fully observe competition rules, calling full compliance a non-negotiable condition for remaining in collective talks.
It asked FFU and Sports Media what steps they will take to meet the law and the Cade order, reserving the right to act to protect its interests. The notice said this is diligence, not hostility, and takes effect upon receipt.
Cade’s superintendent general, Alexandre Barreto de Souza, issued the interim order barring the FFU from hindering departures. The case was brought by CSA, which argues its Sports Media contract creates artificial barriers, though any exit would not cancel existing obligations such as fines.
On Friday, Botafogo, Cruzeiro, Goiás and Operário sent similar notices and threatened to leave if rules curbing exits are not changed within 10 business days. Figueirense has gone to court, while the FFU called action based on the injunction premature and subject to review by Cade’s Tribunal or the courts.
