Corinthians’ standing in the provisional table after matchday 32

Corinthians went to the Cícero de Souza Marques Stadium on the night of this Wednesday (5) to face Red Bull Bragantino, in a match valid for the 32nd round of the Brazilian Championship and ended up being defeated 2-1. The Corinthians goal was scored by forward Yuri Alberto.

Despite the defeat, the Alvinegro remained in tenth place with 42 points (11 wins, nine draws, and 12 losses – 35 goals scored and 37 conceded), but saw some competitors get closer in terms of points. Atlético-MG reached 40 points in 11th position by beating Bahia 3-0 at Arena MRV, and still has a game to play, potentially surpassing Corinthians in the standings.

Red Bull Bragantino reached 39 points (in 32 games) and currently has a three-point difference in relation to Corinthians, occupying the 12th position. On the other hand, Grêmio – 39 points – failed to get closer to Alvinegro in the standings, as they were defeated by Cruzeiro in Porto Alegre, by a score of 1-0.

Vasco, which occupies the ninth position with the same score as Corinthians – has an advantage in goal difference (3 against – 2) – was easily defeated by Botafogo at Nilton Santos, by a score of 3-0. São Paulo drew with Flamengo 2-2 at Vila Belmiro and increased the lead over Corinthians from two to three points – eighth place. Both teams will face each other in the 34th round, on the 20th, at Neo Química Arena.

Ceará, with 38 points – in 31 games – in 14th place, will face Fortaleza, as the host, this Thursday (6), at Arena Castelão. If they win, they will be just one point away from Corinthians. Both teams will meet this Sunday (9), in Itaquera, for the 33rd round of the national competition.

On the other hand, Alvinegro might see the distance from the G7 – the qualifying zone for the Conmebol Libertadores 2026 – increase to eight points. This is because Fluminense – seventh place with 47 points – faces Mirassol this Thursday (6), at Maracanã Stadium.

With tonight's defeat, Corinthians saw their streak of three consecutive victories (Atlético-MG, Vitória, and Grêmio) in the season and in the Brasileirão interrupted. Additionally, the team conceded a goal after three matches.
