Corinthians youth page unveils top Terrão talents for 2025

The youth categories of Corinthians are closely followed by the Fiel Torcida, always on the lookout for young talents from Terrão who may, in the future, become references in the professional team, following the same path as athletes like midfielder Breno Bidon, currently a starter under Dorival Júnior at Alvinegro. In the routine of following the teams, specialized pages play a fundamental role, enriching the coverage of the topic.

One of the most recognized profiles in this task is Base Corinthiana, created in 2019 by Thiago Balzary, which has since accumulated content promoting and analyzing the young athletes of all the youth categories of Alvinegro. Additionally, the profile has maintained an award at the end of the season for five years, where it selects, with the help of Instagram followers, the year's biggest highlights at Terrão.

The “Seleção da Base 2025” award was announced by the profile last Friday (12), divided into three parts. One team featured only athletes from the Under-11 to Under-14 categories; another team listed the highlights from the Under-15 to Under-20 categories; and a third selection chose the highlights among the technical staff of the categories.

The selection of the youngest was formed with Giovane Andrade; Léo Toledo, Henrique Dechen, Bagio, and Rafael Mazzetti; Kauã Novo, Andrézinho, and João Murillo; Enzo Mendes, Higor, and Gigante, with William Sousa Silva as coach. The selection of the more experienced had in its formation: Gustavo Milani; Nagashima, Maranhão, Lorenzo, and Matheus Ferraz; Pedro Thomas, Índio, and Guilherme Amorim; Dante, Pedro Morelli, and Miguel Moscardo, with Renato Rodrigues in charge.

Meanwhile, the highlights among the members of the Terrão technical staff were selected from all categories together, with five names being chosen: Renato Melo (Under-12 coach), Helton Pereira (Under-20 supervisor), Rodrigo Dezordi (Under-14 physical trainer), Renan Gomes (Under-12 goalkeeping coach), and Marianna Meggiolaro (psychologist).

The Central do Timão spoke with Thiago Balzary to understand how the award process works: “There are two stages, right? Always. I ask for nominations in the stories, by position. Every 24 hours, people can nominate names of athletes they believe were the standout of the position. Then I take the four most voted by position and put them in a poll on the feed. Often the big standout doesn't win, right, because it's a vote search and another ends up winning. However, it's always very close there.”

He explained that the award wasn't always composed of two selections of young talents. “I've been doing these selections every year-end since 2021. At first, I made only one selection, so there were players from Under-20, Under-11, Under-14, all mixed. From 2023 onwards, I separated them, aiming to be a bit fairer, right? I separated from Under-11 to Under-14 and from Under-15 to Under-20. It became more dynamic and better flowing,” he opined.

Balzary stated that nominating and electing the highlights is a difficult task due to the number of talents in the teams and the context of each season: “It's very difficult to create the list. Everything changes a lot, (the player) has a good year, then a bad year. Sometimes there are two who did very well per position. Imagine, for example, Léo Rodrigues and Guilherme Amorim in midfield. Very difficult to choose one of the two, both had a magical season, you know? It's really complicated.”

When asked about the purpose of the award, he replied: “These selections aim to promote interaction with the athletes, for them to realize how well they are observed, how much people like them, and so on. And also, it has this intention of giving credit to the team working at the club, right? Who are totally fundamental. A chance to highlight their work a bit, give this attention, which is really important.”

Finally, the administrator of the specialized profile shared how he follows so many categories, revealing some of the most common challenges in the task: “Regarding game monitoring, there is a limitation, right? Firstly, of timing, (because) many games happen on weekday afternoons. But, as much as possible, we keep up. This year, there was a very good help from Corinthians TV broadcasting several games, including from the younger categories. So, it was very beneficial for us who follow, to observe more names, the highlights.”

He concluded, complementing the reasoning. “There is also a conversation with people from the club, people from the staff, from recruitment, who, whether they like it or not, follow a bit of training, the backstage. With this, you can have a slightly broader view, better than just following the game time on a screen,” he analyzed.
