Crysencio Summerville completes £60m move from West Ham to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal | OneFootball

Crysencio Summerville has completed his move from West Ham to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal in a deal worth £60 million.

The 24-year-old left winger departs East London after two seasons, during which he made 56 appearances, scoring eight goals and picking up seven assists.

Summerville’s sale becomes the Hammers’ second following their relegation to the Championship, after Mateus Fernandes joined Tottenham Hotspur for a fee of £85 million earlier this month.

A statement on the West Ham United website read: “West Ham United can confirm that Crysencio Summerville has completed a permanent transfer to Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal.

The 24-year-old Netherlands international departs having made 56 appearances and scored eight goals for the Hammers across two seasons, after joining from Leeds United in the summer of 2024.

West Ham United would like to thank Crysencio for his service and wish him well for the future.”

After a successful World Cup, interest in Summerville only grew, and it seemed as though he would be heading to Italy after Roma put in several bids, their highest being a reported £40 million.

Manchester United was also reportedly interested in the winger. However, that move depended on the sale of Marcus Rashford after he returned to the club following the end of his loan spell with Barcelona.

The Athletic reported that Tottenham Hotspur were also keen on the 24-year-old and looked for him to follow in the footsteps of Fernandes. However, the Dutchman had no intention of joining West Ham’s rivals out of respect for the club.

With Summerville’s move to Al Hilal, he joins one of the strongest squads in Saudi Arabian football. The winger will line up alongside stars including Karim Benzema, Darwin Núñez, Rúben Neves, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Theo Hernández, Kalidou Koulibaly and Yassine Bounou during the upcoming season.

Following West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League, it was widely reported that the club would need to raise around £150 million through player sales. After the sales of Fernandes and Summerville, the Hammers have already raised the amount they were reportedly aiming to generate.

Several other players are still expected to leave the club, with the likes of Jean-Clair Todibo, Edson Álvarez and Niclas Füllkrug all drawing interest from other clubs.

As well as departures, West Ham will be hoping to strengthen their squad with some arrivals. However, no deals are currently reported to be close, despite the Hammers’ Championship campaign getting underway in just under two weeks when they host Portsmouth at the London Stadium on August 8.
