Crystal Palace hold a strong interest in Burnley defender Maxime Estève (23), according to a report from L’Équipe, however, they face strong competition to sign the Frenchman.

Estève was a key pillar in the incredible Burnley defence as they secured promotion back to the Premier League, conceding just 16 goals across the whole campaign in the process. However, despite taking the Lancashire side back into the elite, he is not guaranteed to remain at Turf Moor.

L’Équipe understands that Crystal Palace have made the Frenchman a priority signing this summer, whilst Everton’s interest has also risen in recent days. Bayern Munich are also interested, albeit not to the same extent as Crystal Palace. He is a known quantity to Vincent Kompany, with whom he worked in his final months as Burnley head coach.

It remains to be seen how much Burnley want for their centre-back, who in a previous interview with Foot Mercato, admitted an interest in playing for a bigger club in England. “When I was young, I dreamed of playing in the Premier League. I watched basically just that on the TV […] My dream is to play for a top-six team in England. I wouldn’t say there is any club in particular but my dream is to go there,” he said last month.
