Cuiabano will not be available to Renato Gaúcho for Vasco’s game at Coritiba after minor gluteal discomfort, and he has been left out of the trip to aid his condition for Saturday’s clássico with Botafogo.

According to Globo.com, the left-back felt the issue in training on Saturday, underwent treatment, then was re-assessed before departure to Curitiba and omitted from the squad list.

Vasco have managed the workload of the no 66 to bring his intensity and fitness in line with team-mates who have been in full training since early January.

Cuiabano spent the start of the year with Nottingham Forest’s under-21s. He joined Vasco in the first week of February and required time to build up physically.

Renato will also be without Andrés Gómez and Puma Rodríguez, who are with their national teams for friendlies in the Data Fifa. The Colombian forward would have missed Wednesday anyway through suspension for a third yellow card.

Coritiba face Vasco at 20:30 Brasília time on Wednesday at Couto Pereira in the ninth round of the Brasileirão. The Rio side arrive unbeaten in four and are yet to lose under Renato Gaúcho, sitting ninth on 11 points.
