Darwin Núñez could return to Portugal this summer, with a loan to a Primeira Liga club said to be close. According to Ariyadhiah, the Al Hilal forward is nearing a temporary move, though the club has not been named.

Recent days had linked the Uruguayan striker with Besiktas. There are also rumours of Porto given their search for a number nine, but no destination has been confirmed.

With no place in Al Hilal’s plans, a summer exit is certain. He has not been registered for domestic competitions since January, and his minutes have been reduced to almost nothing.

Núñez, 27, featured in three matches for Uruguay at the World Cup. Between 2020 and 2022 he led Benfica’s line, delivering 48 goals and 15 assists in 85 appearances.

Last season he played 16 league games, starting 14, at an average of 78 minutes per outing. He scored six goals from an expected goals figure of 11.48, a rate of one every 209 minutes.
