Manchester United suffered due to their poor form in front of the goal last season.

The Red Devils endured a managerial upheaval in the middle of the campaign, with Ruben Amorim taking over from Erik ten Hag.

The Premier League giants finished in 15th place in the league table at the end of the campaign. Interestingly, they managed just 44 goals in the league from 38 games, the lowest in a league season in the club’s history!

United also lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur. Despite the team’s poor form, Amorim kept his job, and he has been awarded with an improved attack this summer.

Matheu Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo added more quality to the Red Devils’ frontline, while fans were understandably excited after the club signed Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. With Rasmus Hojlund leaving on loan to Napoli, the Slovenian is now the new focal point of Amorim’s attack. However, Sesko has endured a slow start to life at the Theatre of Dreams.

Sesko yet to get going

Sesko is yet to score or assist for his new team, despite featuring in every game so far. The 22 year old has started three of the six games, and has clocked a total of 295 minutes of first team football.

United have scored eight goals in all competitions this season, with Bruno Fernandes and Mbeumo scoring two goals each, and Harry Maguire and Casemiro chipping in one each. The other two were own goals.

It is believed Red Devils are ready to add another striker to their roster in 2026, especially with Joshua Zirkzee’s future uncertain. Recent reports have named Dusan Vlahovic as an option for the job.

The Serbian hitman has entered the final year of his contract with Juventus and is likely to be available for free next summer. The player’s situation suits United’s finances, while his goalscoring exploits make him a good cover for Sesko as well.

Vlahovic has registered four goals from five games already this season for the Bianconeri and was also linked with a move to Old Trafford over the summer.

United not interested in Vlahovic

Speaking to TEAMtalk, however, journalist Dean Jones has said that Vlahovic is not on United’s agenda at the moment.

“Manchester United continue to be linked but, according to sources, there has been no meaningful progress from Old Trafford,” said Jones.

“Chelsea and Tottenham have both made enquiries, while West Ham are also understood to have explored the possibility. Newcastle, however, are one of the clubs being kept in the loop.

“Despite bolstering their attack with the additions of Yoane Wissa and Nick Woltemade, sources suggest they would not rule out moving for a player of Vlahovic’s calibre – though any serious push is more likely to come at the end of the season when he becomes a free agent.

“For now, Juventus face renewed pressure to either find agreement on fresh terms or prepare for one of their star assets to depart without a fee.”

Bruno Fernandes was United’s top scorer last season, with 19 goals in all competitions. Sesko, meanwhile, scored 21 times for RB Leipzig last campaign.
