Ederson issues heartfelt message to Manchester City fans after Fenerbahce move | OneFootball

Manchester City supporters received a special message as part of Ederson’s 319-word statement following his exit from the Etihad Stadium to Fenerbahce.

The 31-year-old completed a €14 million (£12.1 million) move to Fenerbahce on the final day of the transfer window, bringing to an end a decorated eight-year spell at the Etihad Stadium where the Brazil international won six Premier League titles amongst a plethora of silverware.

Signed from Benfica for £34 million in 2017, Ederson has laid the foundations and playing an instrumental role in Manchester City’s domination of English football under Pep Guardiola, with his ability on the ball widely renowned as the best in the world in his position.

Ederson entered the final year of his Manchester City contract this summer and was named on the bench in each of the Blues’ recent Premier League losses to Tottenham and Brighton, with speculation looming over the Brazilian’s future at the time.

However, after failing to engineer a transfer to Saudi Arabia last summer, Ederson has been granted his wish of a new challenge after eight decorated years in England, with all parties confirming on Tuesday that Ederson has completed a transfer to Fenerbahce.

Issuing a lengthy statement to all those concerned at Manchester City, including the club’s global supporter base, Ederson said: “It’s been almost ten years of learning, achievements, and celebrations wearing the Manchester City shirt. A decade of personal and professional growth that I will carry with me forever.

“I am deeply grateful to all my teammates: true brothers in battle, with whom I shared victories, defeats, laughter, tears, and unforgettable memories. Nothing would have been possible without your commitment, unity, and friendship.

“A special thank you to mister Pep (Guardiola), who together with Xabier (Mancisidor), our goalkeeper coach, believed in me and helped me grow not only as a player but also as a person. My gratitude also extends to the entire coaching staff.

“I want to give a very special recognition to all the staff at Manchester City. You are the true silent heroes of this club: the ones who make every training session happen, who take care of every detail, and who are always there to support us, often far from the spotlight. You are what make this club unique, human, and welcoming every single day.”

And then came a message from the Brazilian to Manchester City’s supporters, as the statement added: “To the Cityzens, there are no words strong enough to describe what I feel. You transformed every game into something bigger than football.

“Your unconditional support, the energy in the stadium, your messages in difficult times, and your celebrations in moments of glory were my fuel. Manchester is blue because of you, and that colour will forever remain in my heart.

“Two of my three children were born here (in Manchester), which makes this city more than just a place it’s a home that I will carry with me forever. Now it’s time to close this victorious chapter and begin a new one, with new challenges ahead.

“That’s what drives us: to always strive for our best, with commitment, dedication, and purpose. I wish the club continued success, inspiration, and brilliance, just as it has shown in recent years. Thank you for everything. You have changed my life. I love you, Cityzens!”
