The Crystal Palace centre-back complained of a groin problem at half-time of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Andorra, but played on until the 76th minute before being replaced Ezri Konsa.

Tuchel said after the game it was a substitution he had hoped not to make, with captain Harry Kane instead the planned change in the second half. Kane, the manager has since confirmed, will start again for his country against Serbia.

Guehi appears to have suffered no adverse effects as he joined the rest of the squad for training on Monday morning, before the group boarded their flight to Belgrade.

Fellow centre-back John Stones was expected to feature in both matches this month but had to withdraw from the squad on Friday morning due to a muscular problem. Jarrell Quansah, a late call-up, remains uncapped.

At left-back, Tuchel can choose between Arsenal’s Myles Lewis-Skelly or the uncapped Djed Spence of Tottenham, while Reece James should keep his spot on the opposite flank.

Elsewhere, Tuchel must decide if Elliot Anderson, who impressed on debut against Andorra, will keep his spot in midfield alongside Declan Rice in central midfield, with both Ruben Loftus-Cheek and veteran Jordan Henderson pushing for minutes.

Anthony Gordon could come into the starting line-up after replacing the underwhelming Marcus Rashford off the bench on the weekend, while Eberechi Eze faces competition from Morgan Gibbs-White and Morgan Rogers for the starting berth at No10. Noni Madueke will hope to start back-to-back games.
