Several English clubs are monitoring the situation of Marseille midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi (22), according to a report from La Provence.
The Nigerian midfielder endured a difficult first season at the Stade Vélodrome following his €6m move from Belgian side Zulte Waregem. Despite arriving in Provence with high expectations, Nnadi found opportunities hard to come by and was largely restricted to a peripheral role for much of the campaign.
However, the 22-year-old’s fortunes improved dramatically towards the end of the season. Nnadi started Marseille’s final four league matches of the campaign and impressed after being handed an opportunity in the first team. His performances also earned him a return to the Nigerian national team setup after previously falling out of contention due to a lack of playing time at club level.
According to La Provence, Nnadi retains admirers in England, with several clubs having made enquiries regarding his situation. However, no club has yet moved beyond an initial information-gathering stage.
The report adds that Nnadi’s future at Marseille remains uncertain amid the club’s ongoing financial concerns and wider restructuring. The midfielder is awaiting clarity from the club’s hierarchy regarding the role he could play next season, with the appointment of a new head coach expected to influence the decision.
Nnadi is currently under contract with Les Phocéens until 2030.GFFN | George Boxall
